Zoho Hiring Process: Programming Rounds and How to Prepare

Overview
Zoho is an Indian software product company known for its wide range of business applications. It has a reputation for hiring on problem-solving and programming ability rather than relying heavily on academic scores or on a specific degree, and it also runs its own learning programs. Roles include Member Technical Staff (software developer), and positions in support, quality and design.
Because Zoho builds its own products and tools, interviewers often care about how you think and write code more than which frameworks you have memorised.
What the process usually looks like
Candidates commonly describe several elimination rounds, often on one day or over a few days:
- Written or online aptitude and logic round: reasoning and basic technical questions. Some drives include C-language output prediction questions.
- Programming rounds: you are given problems and asked to write complete, working programs in a language of your choice. Problems are often logic-oriented puzzles and pattern or array tasks rather than famous algorithm questions. Later rounds can ask you to build a small application with clean design, for example a simple system with several classes and operations.
- Technical interview: you explain your code, optimise it, and discuss fundamentals and projects.
- HR interview: motivation, flexibility, and long-term plans.
The details vary by drive and have changed over time, so read the announcement for the current structure.
What Zoho interviewers tend to value
- Writing code without relying on libraries or tools: be comfortable with plain loops, arrays and strings
- Handling edge cases and testing your own code
- Clean structure: readable names, small functions, sensible classes
- Explaining your logic clearly
- Eagerness to build things: projects you built because you wanted to, not only for a course
A focused preparation plan
Weeks 1–3: core logic. Pick one language (C, C++, Java or Python) and practise pattern printing, number problems (primes, Armstrong numbers, GCD), string manipulation, array rotations, matrix operations and recursion. Write every program completely, with input and output, without an IDE hint.
Weeks 3–6: problem solving. Continue with sorting and searching, hashing, stacks and queues, and two-pointer problems. The DSA study plan provides a sequence.
Weeks 5–8: design practice. Build small console applications, such as a library system, parking lot or bank account manager. Use classes and interfaces, and keep methods short. See OOP and design principles.
Final week: speed and clarity. Time yourself writing solutions. Practise explaining your approach aloud before you start coding.
Tips
- Read the problem statement twice, and confirm the input and expected output with a small example.
- Test with unusual inputs: empty, one element, repeated values, negative numbers.
- If you are stuck, explain what you have tried; interviewers often value your thinking process.
- Have at least one project in which you wrote significant code yourself (project ideas).
Common mistakes
- Depending on built-in functions you cannot explain
- Writing everything in one long function
- Ignoring input validation and edge cases
- Memorising solutions instead of understanding the logic

What the company's own pages say (checked 28 October 2026)
We could not find a current official description of Zoho's fresher process. The only official item found was an older careers posting for a Software Developer role. It said the whole interview process would be online, with a level 1 General Aptitude test first and details of later rounds sent in a call letter. It was for a past graduating batch.
Not confirmed: the programming rounds, application-building rounds and C output questions described above. They come from widely shared candidate reports, so treat them as likely but not guaranteed, and check Zoho Corp careers for the current announcement.
