Overview
Accenture recruits freshers in India through campus and off-campus drives for roles such as Associate Software Engineer, Application Development Associate and other associate-level positions across technology and operations. Because Accenture works with clients across many industries, the recruiters look for adaptability, communication and basic technical ability as much as deep expertise.
The usual stages
Candidate reports commonly describe a multi-step online process followed by interviews, but the order and the number of steps vary, so read your invitation:
- Cognitive and technical assessment: an online, proctored test. The cognitive part is commonly described as covering verbal ability, logical reasoning and numerical or abstract reasoning. The technical part covers computer fundamentals and pseudocode, plus questions on basic programming and databases.
- Coding assessment: one or more programming problems, usually easy to medium.
- Communication assessment: an automated test, often with spoken and written tasks.
- Technical and HR interview: sometimes a single combined conversation.
In some cycles the communication test is taken first. Different tests act as filters, so the later rounds usually involve fewer candidates.
What each part tests
- Cognitive: how quickly and accurately you reason. Speed matters because the test is timed.
- Technical MCQ and pseudocode: reading small pieces of code and predicting output. Review loops, conditions, operators, recursion, arrays and basic data structures (DSA plan).
- Coding: clean solutions that handle edge cases
- Communication: grammar, vocabulary, listening and speaking
- Interview: projects, fundamentals, learning attitude and teamwork
Preparation plan
- Pseudocode practice: solve 20–30 "what is the output?" questions a week. This skill improves fast with repetition.
- Reasoning: practise abstract patterns, series and logical sets with a timer (aptitude guide).
- Basic programming: practise writing small programs without an IDE helping you.
- Communication: speak for two minutes daily on any topic; practise listening to clear recordings and writing the sentences you hear.
- Interview: prepare examples of teamwork, handling a deadline and learning something new. The behavioural interview guide shows how to structure them.
Tips
- Accenture values collaboration. In interviews, talk about team projects, and be specific about your own contribution.
- Do not claim to know a technology you cannot explain at a basic level.
- Practise in the same setup you will use on the test day: same laptop, browser, lighting and internet.
- Keep your documents ready for verification, and make sure the name on your resume matches your ID.
Common mistakes
- Treating pseudocode as easy and not practising it
- Rushing the cognitive section and making avoidable errors
- Over-polished answers that do not match your real experience
- Paying anyone for "guaranteed selection". Accenture does not sell jobs (how scams work).
Frequently asked questions
Is coding compulsory?
Reports differ by drive and role. Some include a separate coding assessment, others test programming mainly through pseudocode questions. Prepare for both: tracing code by hand and writing small programs.
Which test comes first?
The order has varied, and some cycles begin with the communication assessment. Follow the sequence in your invitation email, not a blog post from a previous year.
How do I improve at pseudocode questions?
Trace each program on paper with a table of variable values, step by step. Doing 20 to 30 questions a week for a month improves speed noticeably.
Are all the tests eliminating?
Some are filters, so a weak performance in one section can end the process. Do not neglect the sections you consider "easy".
What roles do freshers usually get?
Associate-level technology and operations roles, such as application development, testing and support. The exact role depends on the drive and your assessment results.

What the company's own pages say (checked 28 October 2026)
Confirmed on the Accenture India recruitment page:
- After applying you get a confirmation email, and recruiters review your application. Interviews can be by phone, video or in person, and the number depends on the role.
- Some roles include an online assessment that must be completed in one sitting within the stated time (typically within 72 hours). Passing an assessment does not replace interviews. If you fail one, you must wait at least 90 days before retaking it.
- Official emails come only from @accenture.com, and no one is ever required to pay.
- An older India campus page described a technical test, a 60-minute coding round with three questions, and a behavioural and cognitive assessment with a sectional cut-off.
Not confirmed: the current campus test format and the role titles above. Treat the older campus details as history.
Latest changes (2025–2026)
Updated 28 October 2026. We found no newer official change than the points above. Online assessments are completed in one sitting and are proctored, so test your setup in advance. For the wider picture, read how tech hiring has changed in 2025–2026.
Please note: hiring processes change between campuses, drives and years, and companies update their rounds without notice.
