About Kulfi
Kulfi is a digital experiences app for couples in India. The company says close to a million people already use it, and that it is backed by South Park Commons and by founders and CEOs from Swiggy, Mosaic Wellness, Snitch and Moonshot. It describes itself as a small, high-intensity team whose work reaches real users quickly.
About the role
Kulfi is hiring a Software Engineer I – Product / Full-Stack. You build product features end to end across the Flutter app, web, backend APIs and data. You do not need to know every part on day one. The company wants proof that you learn fast, finish what you start, care about the user experience and understand the code you ship.
- Location: Jayanagar, Bengaluru, working in the office
- Type: full time
- Experience: 0–1 years. Strong fresh graduates and builders are welcome
- Pay: ₹9–15 LPA posted range, which the listing calls fixed pay, with ESOPs over and above
What you will do
- Build and ship small product features across app, web, API and data layers
- Turn product and design ideas into complete user flows, including loading, empty, error and retry states
- Debug problems across the app, network, backend and data instead of stopping at the first layer
- Write tests, review your own changes and check behaviour before handing work over
- Read user feedback and product metrics to see whether a release worked
- Use AI coding tools to move faster, while staying responsible for every line you ship
- Ask precise questions, flag blockers early and learn from direct feedback
What they are looking for
- You have built and shipped at least one real project: software, an internship deliverable, a freelance product or a meaningful open-source contribution
- You write readable code and can reason through bugs without leaning blindly on autocomplete or AI
- You have worked across at least two layers: mobile or web, backend or API, database, or deployment
- You care about product details and notice when a technically correct feature gives a bad user experience
- You move quickly, but test your work and own your mistakes
- You can explain what you built, the trade-offs, and what you would improve next
- You are comfortable working in person in Jayanagar. A computer-science degree is not required. Evidence of building matters more than credentials
Useful, not mandatory: Flutter and Dart, state management such as BLoC or Riverpod, REST APIs, SQL, caching, queues or real-time systems, a backend language such as Node.js, Go, Python or Java, CI/CD and cloud deployment, and thoughtful use of AI coding tools.
What success looks like
Within three months, you can own a small feature from problem statement to release, handle the obvious failure states, write useful tests, review your own work, and explain which user signal or metric should improve.
Interview process
- A short application review based on the work you have shipped
- A 15–20 minute screening call
- A 75-minute practical product-engineering interview: a project deep dive, a live task, self-review, a changed requirement, and a product and UX discussion
- A 30-minute founder conversation about mutual expectations
AI tools are allowed in the practical exercise, but you must say how you used them and be able to explain and defend the final code.
Important
- Answer the application questions yourself. Clear and specific beats polished and generic
- Do not call anyone at Kulfi or message them on WhatsApp. The company says doing so leads to immediate rejection of your application
How to apply
- Open the Kulfi application page with the Apply Now button below
- Answer the questions and share your best shipped work: an app, a GitHub project or an internship deliverable
- Put your projects first in your resume. See our portfolio projects guide and GitHub profile guide
Preparation tips
- Be ready to talk through one project in depth: why you chose each approach, what broke, and what you would change
- Revise the full-stack developer roadmap and the mobile app developer roadmap
- Know how startup hiring works in our startup hiring guide
- Practise explaining AI-assisted code with the AI tools guide for developers
