Wipro Hiring Process for Freshers: Elite NTH, Tests and Interviews

Overview
Wipro hires freshers through campus drives and through a national-level off-campus program commonly called the National Talent Hunt (Wipro's careers site calls it the Elite National Talent Hunt, often shortened to Elite NTH). Entry roles are usually titled Project Engineer or similar. Wipro also runs work-integrated learning programs where candidates study while working; their eligibility and process are different, so read each announcement separately.
Typical stages
Candidates commonly report this sequence for engineering freshers:
- Online assessment, taken in one proctored sitting. It is commonly described as having an aptitude section, a written English or essay section and a coding section with one or more programming problems.
- Technical and business discussion: a conversation about your resume, projects and fundamentals.
- HR interview: motivation, relocation, shifts, service terms and joining date.
Some drives add a separate communication assessment (listening, reading and spoken English). The exact sections and timing change between cycles, so rely on the instructions you receive.
What the assessment tests
- Aptitude: arithmetic, logical reasoning and verbal ability under time pressure
- Written communication: a short essay or email. Clear structure, correct grammar and a calm tone matter more than difficult words.
- Coding: easy-to-medium problems. You usually must pass test cases, so handle edge cases and read the input format carefully.
How to prepare
Aptitude: practise with timed sets for two to three weeks (aptitude guide).
Essay writing: write one 200-word essay every other day on topics such as technology, education, social media or teamwork. Use a simple structure: introduction, two or three points with examples, conclusion. Ask a friend to check clarity.
Coding: concentrate on arrays, strings, searching, simple recursion and number problems. Practise writing complete programs with input and output, because platforms are strict about format (online assessment tips).
Technical interview: revise OOP, DBMS and SQL, basic operating system ideas and your main language. Be ready to write short programs. See core CS subjects.
HR interview: prepare honest, specific answers about your strengths, weaknesses, why Wipro and your career goals (sample answers).
Tips
- Practise in a quiet room with a stable connection, and follow the proctoring rules exactly (camera angle, ID, no extra screens).
- Keep a one-page resume with only skills you can discuss (resume guide).
- Read the service agreement or joining terms carefully when you receive an offer, and ask the HR team about anything unclear.
- Apply only through the official careers portal and official college channels. Companies do not charge for interviews or offers (stay safe from scams).
Common mistakes
- Treating the essay as an afterthought
- Spending too long on one hard coding problem and leaving easier marks unsolved
- Memorised, generic HR answers that sound rehearsed
- Missing the registration window because you did not check the portal regularly
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Elite and other Wipro fresher programs?
Programs differ in assessment format, role level and conditions such as work-integrated learning. Read the eligibility and terms in each announcement, and compare the training, agreement and role, not only the name.
How is the essay evaluated?
Candidates describe automated and reviewer-based evaluation. In both cases, a clear structure, correct grammar and a relevant example matter more than complicated vocabulary.
How hard is the coding section?
It is usually described as easy to medium. Passing all test cases requires handling input format and edge cases carefully, so practise complete programs rather than only logic.
What are the typical technical interview topics?
Your projects, OOP, DBMS and SQL, operating system basics and a short program. Prepare to explain every line of your final-year project.
Is there a service agreement?
Many IT companies ask freshers to sign terms about notice period or training costs. Ask for the details in writing and read them before you accept.

- Wipro states that it charges no fee at any stage, that its process includes at least one interview, and that it will not hold interviews over WhatsApp or Telegram (fraud awareness).
Not confirmed: the assessment sections (aptitude, written English, coding) and the interview structure. They are not spelled out in the pages we could read, so rely on your own invitation.

Updated 28 October 2026.
- Elite and WILP are still the program names on Wipro's careers pages.
- Intake: Wipro's total headcount fell by 6,716 in the September 2026 quarter, and the coverage we read gave no fresher figure. Watch the careers page and your campus placement cell for current openings, and avoid relying on blog claims about hiring targets.
