Overview
Infosys hires large numbers of graduates every year through campus placements, off-campus drives and special programs. Entry-level engineers commonly join as Systems Engineer. Candidates who show stronger programming ability are reported to be considered for higher entry roles, with names such as Specialist Programmer or Power Programmer used in candidate reports (the role names and pay bands are not listed on the Infosys pages we could check, so confirm them in your announcement).
The routes in
- Standard campus or off-campus drive: an online test followed by interviews.
- InfyTQ (Infosys Training and Qualification): a free learning and certification program that has been used as a route to be considered for roles. Availability and format have changed over the years, so check the current status on the official Infosys site.
- HackWithInfy: a competitive programming contest with several stages. High performers are commonly reported to be fast-tracked for higher-tier roles. Eligibility, stages and rewards differ by year.
The usual stages (standard route)
- Online assessment: commonly reported sections include reasoning, quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, and a technical or coding part, which can include pseudocode, puzzles or programming questions. Questions are timed, and each section often has its own cut-off.
- Technical interview: about your language, projects, DBMS, OOP, basic data structures and problem solving.
- HR interview: communication, attitude, relocation, joining and your understanding of the company.
For the higher-tier routes, the test is usually programming-heavy, with algorithmic problems that need efficient solutions, followed by more detailed technical interviews.
What to study
| Area | What to practise |
|---|---|
| Aptitude | Percentages, profit and loss, averages, permutations, probability, number series |
| Reasoning | Seating arrangement, syllogisms, blood relations, data sufficiency, puzzles |
| Verbal | Reading comprehension, fill in the blanks, sentence arrangement |
| Coding | Arrays, strings, recursion, sorting, hashing, basic dynamic programming |
| Core subjects | OOP, SQL queries, normalisation, OS and networking basics |
Use the aptitude test preparation guide for the first three rows and the DSA study plan for coding.
A preparation plan
If you target the standard route: spend about 60% of your time on aptitude and reasoning for four weeks, 25% on coding basics and 15% on interview revision. Take full-length mock tests under exam timing.
If you target the programming route: practise algorithm problems regularly for two to three months. Focus on medium-level problems, optimise your solutions and learn to read problem statements fast. Participating in contests helps you handle time pressure. Our online coding assessment tips explain how to approach these tests.
Interview tips
- Be able to explain every project in your resume: what problem it solved, your part, the technology and what you would improve.
- Revise the basics of your main language; for Java, see the Java guide for placements.
- Expect simple SQL queries (practice set).
- Answer honestly. If you do not know something, say so and describe how you would find out.
Common mistakes
- Preparing only aptitude, then freezing when a coding problem appears
- Ignoring section cut-offs, which means a strong section cannot rescue a weak one
- Memorising answers instead of understanding concepts
- Sharing personal documents through unofficial links; always use the official portal (scam safety guide)

What the company's own pages say (checked 28 October 2026)
Confirmed on the Infosys HackWithInfy page and graduates page:
- HackWithInfy is a coding contest for engineering students. The 2025 terms describe a first round with a three-hour coding assessment on the Infosys Assessment Platform, registered through the college placement officer, followed by a later round and a grand finale. Successful participants may be considered for jobs and internships.
- Infosys states that it does not charge any fee or deposit at any stage and that recruiters use @infosys.com email addresses (fraud alert).
Not confirmed: the role names Specialist Programmer, Power Programmer and Digital Specialist Engineer, and how InfyTQ links to hiring today. The pages we could reach describe InfyTQ only as a learning platform.
Latest changes (2025–2026)
Updated 28 October 2026.
- Intake: September 2026 quarter coverage reports about 8,000 college graduates hired in the quarter and an unchanged FY27 target of 20,000.
- HackWithInfy: the official page invited 2027-batch engineering students to register, with a qualifier window from January to March 2026 and a face-to-face second round in March 2026.
- Tracks: coaching sites describe Systems Engineer, Digital Specialist Engineer and Specialist Programmer tracks, with pay figures that conflict between sources. Rely on your own offer letter.
- Tip: expect proctored coding with identity checks, and practise explaining your code aloud.
